My family and I decided to take a day trip to Rome from Florence via train. I have found in my travels overseas that taking a train is an amazing way to get around and fast. We arrived in the fast-paced hustle and bustle of Rome and made our way on foot to the Colosseum and Arch of Constantine. When I stood at the base of this amazing piece of architecture my mind was racing with questions like “How on earth did they build this with their bare hands?” We walked inside to a sea of pathways and corridors, my mind imagining crowds roaring as gladiators made their way to what might have been their end. So much history to take in it is amazing.

I love Italy for many reasons but one of the top reasons has to be the architecture and the history of the architecture. The blood, sweat, and tears that went into making these beautiful masterpieces that have stood the test of time. Rome is a great place to see this type of architecture. We visited the Roman Forum, The Pantheon, The Trev Fountain, The Spanish Stairs, The Vatican, and more. There is something to be said about walking on the same cobblestones that Julius Caesar once walked or walking between the same stone pillars that some of the greatest minds of the world once walked through or taking in the design and art by the most memorable and influential minds of our time.

If you make it to Rome you must visit the sites I listed above. Admire the beauty, the minds that created them, the history, and think about that without that history, we may not be where we are today. Take in the old and the new.
