My wife and I enjoyed the best lamb sliders from a local brewpub and wanted to re-create them at home, and I think we came pretty close, or maybe even a little better in this recipe.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • Brioche slider buns. We purchased ours at our local Aldi grocery store. They are amazing.
  • 1 lb. more or less ground lamb. It depends on how many sliders you’d like to make. 1 lb. made 9 sliders for us.
  • sliced red onion
  • top with crumbled goat cheese or feta cheese

Cucumber Tzatziki sauce:

  • 1/2 cucumber, this will depend on how many sliders, but we put the extra in a glass jar. This is great on salads, chicken, etc.
  • 1 cup of good full-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 1/2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 T. fresh dill
  • salt and pepper to taste

I have a special slider press and grill grate, which is great for flipping these little guys over. Don’t worry if you don’t have one; you can patty them up just as you would burgers, but smaller to fit the buns.

NOTE: if you’d like to get a slider press and grill basket, you can find them online at Williams Sonoma or Amazon.com.

To make the Tzatziki sauce:

Peel the cucumber, slice in half and spoon out the seeds. Dice the cucumber in small cubes and put it in a colander to drain for 30 to 40 minutes. You might need to put some weight on the cucumber to help it drain. A couple of bowls or small plates work well. This helps remove some of the moisture from the cucumber before blending it.

Place all ingredients for the sauce in a blender. We used a juicer, which also works well and blends until smooth. Place in a glass jar with a lid and put it in the refrigerator until the sliders are done.

After you patty, the sliders, grill them until they are done as much as you like. Don’t overcook as sliders don’t take as long as burgers, and you want to have them juicy.

Assemble the best lamb sliders:

Slice the brioche bun in 1/2. Place a slider on the bun, top with sauce, a few red onions, and the crumbled goat cheese, and enjoy!
