We typically stay at two great hotels when we visit the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. However, we found this great Country Club Plaza Bed & Breakfast within walking distance and thought we’d give it a try.
Southmoreland on the Plaza
Southmoreland on the plaza, www.southmoreland.com is a cozy home built-in 1913. The floors creak as you walk on them. Rooms are furnished with antiques and modern furnishings. And the people there are all so wonderful!
Arrive between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. The staff welcomes you with appetizers and white wine. The hostess gives you a tour and shows you around the home before taking you to your room. Breakfast in the morning is to die for! We had grilled pork chop with a bourbon sauce, pecan stuffed French toast, a smoothie, and it was amazing. And in the evening, milk and fresh-baked cookies are waiting for you after dinner out.
There’s a nice outdoor porch to relax on, and where you can eat your breakfast, some rooms have a porch with a swing or outdoor seating. After a day of exploring Kansas City or shopping on the plaza, relax with a glass of white wine ( I don’t believe red wine is allowed).
I didn’t get a photo of the room, and the outdoor pictures don’t do the property justice. Nicely furnished rooms have comfortable beds. There are a nice tub and shower in the room. What more can you ask for!
We’ve been back a few times now and plan to go back again.
