If you ever get the chance to visit Galena, Illinois, we’ve found a charming 1846 bed & breakfast for you. Annie Wiggins Historic Bed & Breakfast is located just blocks from all of the shops and restaurants in downtown Galena. It’s easy to walk to all of the sites. Or you can choose to drive and park in the middle of the town.
The owners are wonderful, and the accommodations are comfortable, and the breakfast is amazing. We had a room with a private porch. However, other guests seemed to find our little corner of this charming 1846 bed & breakfast. The bed was very comfortable, the room was a nice size and nicely furnished with antiques and fall decorations. The owner takes great pride in decorating for all of the seasons. Every corner of every room has something new to look at.
A memorable breakfast
Breakfast is served exactly at 9:00 and was plated with French toast stuffed with cream cheese, marmalade, and grand Marnier, along with slices of ham, fresh fruit, coffee, and cold apple cider. The owner sat down at our table and chatted during breakfast. We learned about the history of the Inn, town, and how they came to live in Galena, Illinois.
We’ve been to three bed & breakfasts in Galena, and this one is at the top of the list for comfort, charm, and a wonderful breakfast!
