Its been a couple of years since I have had the pleasure of pulling my shotgun up on a wild rooster booming from the grass. Before the close of the “private” hunting season in MN, My Cousin, Uncle, and I took a trip to a private hunt club in Emmons, Minnesota. With the pheasant hunting in Central Iowa being tough the last couple years, it was a welcome noise to hear the cackle of a rooster on a frosty morning. It was fun watching the dogs work the CRP, and when they froze solid on point….the blood started pumping hard because a flush was just a blink away. We were able to shoot 12 birds that day. An amazing experience with a fun group of guys.
