This one hour trip was absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. I wish we could have slowed time down as the boat trip down the Rhine went way too quickly.
This is a great way to explore the region between Bacharach and St Goar Germany. Our group took the train from Bacharach, which is a short ride to St Goar. We toured the castle and explored the town. We then bought our tickets to take the one-hour riverboat tour back to Bacharach. By the way, there’s an amazing place to eat in Bacharach if you time it right and stay in Bacharach for dinner. The Altes Haus is a medieval timber-framed house from 1368. Previous fires spared the oldest building in Bacharach. The menu is simple and inexpensive, but the flavors and food are wonderful.
No need to get tickets for the river cruise before taking the tour and the lady in the ticket booth is extremely helpful.
There are many sights to see and, as always, we had our Rick Steve’s book to help us navigate the sights as we traveled down the Rhine. The book is well worth the money as Rick gives you tips and ideas for itineraries you can get it here: https://www.ricksteves.com/. We don’t leave home without ours tucked in our backpacks. You can also get it from Amazon.com. If you don’t have a guide, it’s still a wonderful journey to see small towns and castles built along the banks of this gorgeous stretch of the Rhine.
