The Petit Trianon at the Palace of Versailles, France , or Marie-Antoinette’s Estate was built in the 1760s. In 1774 Louis XVI offered it to the Queen so she could get away from the palace.
A few of the rooms at the Petit Trianon at the Palace of Versailles, France
On the ground floor, a large entry and staircase are leading to the first floor. Also on the ground floor is the billiard room. The billiard table of Louis XV was in this room, and the decor is much the same as it was in the 1700s. Marie-Antoinette had the table moved to the first floor and replaced it with a less attractive table for the officers and guards.
The warming room was used to warm the food for the royal family. The kitchens were actually located in other buildings on the grounds.
The guard’s room was also on this floor. There were wooden floors, single beds with blankets for the bodyguards of the royal family.
As we were touring the Petit Trianon, The Grand Trianon, and Versailles, I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to have lived during that time in history. Not only as a member of the royal family but as the staff that had to wait on them and their every need. And as the common folk who watched and heard stories of the power and wealth.
I’ll post a few more photos of the first floor next.
