This beautiful custom home had many natural design aspects that were expended into the landscape. Set on a pond with surrounding woods on rolling hills this home lent itself to boulder walls to accompany its fieldstone veneer. The boulders worked as rip rap for the pond, to create raised beds, and as walls to break up hills and create height in the front yard. Specimen boulders were featured in the planting beds along with various limestone slabs (silver and buff Fon du lac, Arkansas, bay de noc, and Chilton) and steps (buff Fon du lac) incorporated into walkways, and washed river rock featured predominately.

The plant selections were quite varied due to sun exposures, height, and color variation. Knock roses, various weigela and spirea mixed perennials (including salvia, iris, sedum, and daylilies ) set off the entrances and front of the home. In the rear, hydrangea, hosta and coral bells mix with themes carried from the front to provide even more variety while continuing continuity. Along the drive, cotoneasters add texture. Crabapple shrubs add height and focus within each bed.

With grading to tie the existing and created areas together this project was elegant at initial completion and continues to be so today.
