Our annual fishing trip to Northeast Iowa again this year, and we weren’t sure what to expect. The area we fish had 2 1/2″ of rain the night before, and the water looked like chocolate milk. But that didn’t deter us; we were looking forward to brown & rainbow trout for dinner.
We had a great two days. The weather was warm during the day and cooled at night, perfect for camping and having a fire. We caught a lot of fish and only kept nine to bring home and share. The streams cleared up a little by the second day, which was our best day for fishing. We caught mostly brown and rainbow trout on this trip. We had a couple of larger browns that put up a good fight, and we had a few getaways, which no doubt were the biggest ones.
We also had time in between fishing streams to stop at Pulpit Rock Brewing in Decorah. Great little brewery with a nice selection of beers and an outdoor seating area when it’s nice out.
I grilled the trout this week with butter, olive oil, fresh dill, garlic, lemon, and rosemary. It tasted amazing!
I’m looking forward to going back
