If you ever have the opportunity to experience Dim Sum, definitely try it! A friend of ours that is in to cuisine and cooking got us hooked on Bo Ling’s in the Country Club Plaza probably 10 years ago and we’ve been going back every year since. He even told us which booth was the best and what dishes to try, which is probably good since it was our first time and we had no clue what to do.
Sunday morning the line of people starts to form and the metal carts piled with plates and steamer dishes start coming from the kitchen promptly at 11:00. Each cart is filled with delicacies and you get to choose the amount and types of food that you want. The server will mark on a ticket what you order and you’ll pay for the food at the end of the meal. We have tried to order and experience something new each time we visit and we haven’t been disappointed yet. In fact, last time we visited we tried Yu Chi Gau or Shark fin dumpling, which may be one of our new favorites.
One tip: We pick up a menu at the front desk before sitting down. They have photos and descriptions of many of the items, which makes it much easier to order when the carts start coming around.
I’d tell you the exact booth to request that our friend told us about, but the restaurant moved to a new location in the past year or two and the seating has changed, but the food is the same great Dim Sum that the other location had.
I would recommend many of the dishes, but here are a some of our favorites:
Shrimp Toast (my wife’s favorite)
Shrimp and Corn Cake
Siu Mai or Shrimp and Pork Dumplings
Yu Chi Gau or Shark Fin Dumplings
Roasted B.B.Q. Pork
Baked Roasted Pork Buns, you’ll probably want two of these if you’re not too full
Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf
