I make this chili on Sunday afternoon so that my husband and I can enjoy this throughout the week for lunch. It’s excellent reheated!
Ingredients:
* 1 pound of ground turkey. I use the one that’s not all white meat as it has a little more juice and isn’t as dry.
* 1/2 of a yellow onion, chopped
* 1/2 of a green pepper, chopped
* 1 large can of petite diced tomatoes
* 1 cup tomato sauce or puree
* 1 tablespoon of Old Westport salsa spice
* 1 tablespoon of Old Westport chipotle spice
* 1/2 to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
First brown the ground turkey along with the onion and green pepper in a large sauce or fry pan.
Then add the rest of the ingredients on medium-hi heat until it starts to bubble. Then reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour
Stir frequently and taste often:) Enjoy!
I forgot to say how much I LOVE Old Westport spices and they are the KEY to the flavor of this dish! They have a website https://squareup.com/market/olde-westport-spice-and-trading-co and it’s very easy to order. The spices I use for this recipe are called Prairie Fire Chipotle Pepper Blend and Border Banditos Salsa Spice Blend or just the Champion chili Spice Blend.
