Get lost in the wonders of the Louvre and be prepared to be amazed by works of art from past centuries. From the pyramid-shaped glass entrance to the building once the Louvre Palace to the Mona Lisa, there’s something for everyone. We know we wouldn’t have enough time to see everything, so weeks before traveling to Paris, France, my wife and I studied books and prepared a plan of attack on what to see.
What you can expect when visiting the Louvre Museum
We went in November, and the lines weren’t too bad to get into the building. However, we did purchase a museum pass that allowed us to bypass any line that was there. I would recommend that in any museum you wish to see. It saves a lot of time that you can spend looking at what you came there for.
From Egyptian antiquities to French paintings and drawings, sculptures by Michelangelo, paintings by Raphael, and Leonardo da Vinci. We tried to see as much as we could but still wanted to spend as much time at each piece of art as possible. Once you stand feet away from the artwork that you’ve only seen in books, it is absolutely breathtaking. You can see the individual brush strokes, the chisel marks and can’t imagine that these pieces were done so long ago.
There are pieces I would recommend and would definitely see again.

Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (photo 3)
Raphael started Madonna and Child with Saint John the Baptist (photo 4). Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio finished the painting.
Above all else, allow yourself to get lost in the wonder and depth of this amazing museum. We did not, but we will go back and see it all again.
